2 of Us

Growing up, I listened to The Chainsmokers and Coldplay a lot. Electronic music always pulled me in. So this one was an experiment: how sweet can Swahili sound on a beat like that?

Whenever I play it back, I picture fireworks. Surfing ocean waves. That kind of feeling.

I wrote it while I was up in the mountains. I had a lot of dreams out there, a lot of impressions, and that's where this line comes from:

"Tangu nimetoka milimani nilikuwazia mami, nikasummarize." Ever since I came down from the mountains, I've been thinking about you, mami, and I summed it all up.

Like everything I saw and felt up there came down to one person.

Music is worth every experiment. Some of our favourite songs started as one.
