Greater & Better

Secure love can feel slow. That doesn't make it less. It might be what makes it real.

I wrote this when, in my mind and my heart, I was still shattered by a version of me I wasn't proud of. I was longing to understand myself first, so I spoke from a place of declaring that understanding.
That version of me loved without boundaries, and it cost me and hurt the people around me. Sometimes being a saviour gets you in trouble with the Saviour.
Too many mistakes and another delay later, we finally found a step closer to who we really are. “Love haihitaji force, kama ipo dry, hata usipush.”
There's a fairly high price we pay to truly understand real love. It may seem slow, less exciting, predictable. But maybe that's what secure, real love is. The question I ask in the song is me trying to figure that out: “Wanted to rely on me then, would you wake up and pray for me? Okay, we got a reason, now tell me, would you either pray to stay, or run away?”
Real love can look boring from the outside. From the inside, it looks like someone choosing to stay.
Secure love can feel slow. That doesn't make it less. It might be what makes it real.
