I recorded this on New Year's morning. I'd made some tea, it burnt my tongue, and that's where the opening line came from: “ulimi unanikwaruza na mimi nakuwaza.”

It's a song about taming your bad thoughts and choosing to stay. It asks the one you love to see you as you are. My mum heard it and said it goes “take me as I am.” I told her it's closer to “see me as I am.”

As an artist with a little experience in love, I've found the line between your affection for the art and for your partner can get blurry. For someone else it might be business, ideas, or any other priority.

This is the song you play when you want to heal, take accountability, and still be in love by the end of the day.

Staying is the harder choice. It all starts in your mind.
